At first God made the sky and the earth.
The earth was empty and dark.
The dark was over the deep water.
The Spirit of God moved over the water.
God said, "Let light be."
And there was light.
God saw the light and said it was good.
God put the light apart from the dark.
God called the light Day and the dark Night.
And there was evening and morning, one day.
God said, "Let there be a space to keep water apart."
God made the space and kept the water under it from the water above it.
It was so.
God called the space Heaven.
And there was evening and morning, a second day.
God said, "Let the water under the sky come to one place, and let dry land show."
It was so.
God called the dry land Earth.
He called the water Seas.
God saw it was good.
God said, "Let the earth grow green grass, plants that give seeds, and fruit trees with seeds."
It was so.
The earth grew grass, plants with seeds, and fruit trees with seeds, each like its own kind.
God saw it was good.
And there was evening and morning, a third day.
God said, "Let there be lights in the sky to keep day and night apart."
Let them show signs, seasons, days, and years.
Let them give light on the earth.
It was so.
God made two big lights: the big light to rule the day and the small light to rule the night.
He made the stars too.
God put them in the sky to give light on the earth.
They rule the day and night and keep light from dark.
God saw it was good.
And there was evening and morning, a fourth day.
God said, "Let the water be full of living things, and let birds fly over the earth in the sky."
God made big sea animals and all moving things in the water, each like its own kind, and every bird like its own kind.
God saw it was good.
God blessed them, saying, "Have many babies and fill the water and let birds grow on the earth."
And there was evening and morning, a fifth day.
God said, "Let the earth bring animals, cows, small crawling things, and wild animals, each like its own kind."
It was so.
God made the animals of the earth, the cows, and all that crawl on the ground, each like its own kind.
God saw it was good.
God said, "Let us make people like us. Let them rule the fish, the birds, the cattle, and all the earth and all that crawl on the ground."
God made a man and a woman like him.
God blessed them.
God said, "Have many children. Fill the earth. Use it. Rule the fish, the birds, and all moving things on the earth."
God said, "Look, I give you every plant with seeds and every tree with seed fruit on the earth."
"They are for your food."
"I give every green plant for food to the animals, the birds, and all that crawl with life."
It was so.
God saw all he had made, and it was very good.
And there was evening and morning, the sixth day.
