Later God tested Abraham.
He said, "Abraham."
Abraham said, "Here I am."
God said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love.
Go to the land of Moriah.
Give him to me there on a mountain I will show you."
Abraham got up early.
He put a load on his donkey.
He took two young men and Isaac, his son.
He took the wood for the fire.
He went to the place God told him.
On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place far away.
He said to his young men, "Wait here with the donkey.
Isaac and I will go there.
We will pray and come back to you."
Abraham put the wood on Isaac.
He held the fire and the knife.
They walked together.
Isaac said to Abraham, "Father."
Abraham said, "Here I am, my son."
Isaac said, "Here is the fire and the wood.
Where is the lamb for the offering?"
Abraham said, "God will give a lamb.
Come, we will go together."
They came to the place God told him.
Abraham made the stone table there.
He put the wood in order.
He tied Isaac and put him on the wood.
Abraham lifted his hand and took the knife to kill his son.
An angel from God called him from the sky.
The angel said, "Abraham, Abraham."
Abraham said, "Here I am."
The angel said, "Do not hurt the boy.
Now I know you fear God because you did not hold back your son, your only son."
Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught behind him in the bushes by its horns.
Abraham went and took the ram.
He gave the ram to God instead of his son.
Abraham called that place "The Lord will see."
Even now people say, "On the Lord's mountain things are ready."
The angel of the Lord called Abraham again from the sky.
He said, "By myself I have promised, says the Lord, because you did this thing and did not hold back your son, your only son, I will bless you.
I will give you many children like the stars in the sky and the sand by the sea.
Your children will win over their enemies.
In your children all nations of the world will be blessed because you obeyed me."
Abraham went back to his young men.
They went together to Beer-sheba.
Abraham lived in Beer-sheba.
After this it was told to Abraham, "Milcah has children with your brother Nahor."
The names are Uz, his first-born, and Buz, his brother.
Kemuel, the father of Aram.
Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
Bethuel became the father of Rebekah.
These eight were born to Milcah for Nahor, Abraham's brother.
His other wife Reumah also had Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
